1. Chocolate:
Chocolate is dangerous to lots of animals. The reason for this is because it contains a chemical called theobromine. Theobromine is similar to caffeine, and animals can’t metabolize it as well as humans, which makes them more sensitive to the chemicals’ effects.
2. Coffee:
Coffee, like chocolate, is very bad for lots of animals. Coffee has caffeine, which raises blood pressure and could cause cardiac arrhythmias. It can also cause animals to lose control of their muscles. Side effects of caffeine could be vomiting and/or diarrhea, but vomiting could help your pet get some caffeine out of their system.
3. House Plants:
In general, it is probably not good to let animals eat house plants that you might have around the house (unless they are specifically for pets), but some plants you definitely don’t want your pet to eat are lilies. Lilies can cause kidney damage to any animal that eats them.
4. Bread Dough:
Bread dough contains yeast which can produce carbon dioxide and ethanol alcohol. The ethanol alcohol can cause animals to have seizures and can also cause respiratory failure.
5. Moldy Foods:
If the moldy food contains tremorgenic mycotoxins, it can cause animals to get seriously sick in around a hour. Some signs that your pet could have eaten moldy foods are vomiting, wobbliness, and tremors.
